On August 10, 2010, the City Council appointed a Council subcommittee to solicit applications
from eligible candidates from City Council District 5 to serve as an Interim Councilmember until
the election of November 8, 2011.

City Offices to Close Due to Holidays and Work Furloughs
The Modesto City Council has approved the closure of City offices from Friday, September 3,
through Monday, September 6. In a continued effort to balance a difficult budget, the City will
realize cost savings through mandatory furloughs and reduced energy usage during the two business
closure days.
All offices in Tenth Street Place (1010 Tenth Street) will be closed. Uniformed police
operations and emergency dispatch will operate as usual and all 11 fire stations will be open.
The Modesto Police Department lobby located at 600 Tenth Street will be open on Friday, September
3, but closed on Monday, September 6; citizens requiring assistance from uniformed police
personnel on Monday can use the phone located near the lobby doors.
